UC3843 PWM IC Tester for SMPS - Fareedish's Blog

For electronics hobbyists, especially those who are just exploring the field of SMPS (switch mode power supply) like me, it feels like you have to know first each function of each component that will be applied to the SMPS series. One of the very vital components that is generally used in most SMPS is the UC3843 PWM IC, but how do we know that the PWM IC is still good or still working? 

My purpose of posting about how to find out whether or not this PWM IC is damaged, because my first introduction to the SMPS series started when I tried to repair a damaged SMPS, which no MOSFET power and elco that I got from a junk seller.

Ok, right off the bat, here I present a simple circuit to test the pwm ic is still good or has been damaged, this circuit must use a socket because this circuit is only as a test tool ic pwm, at the output as an indication that a speaker is installed so that we know it by the release of sound, the sound that is heard is around 48 Hertz. 

If the ic is still good, when connected to the DC 12V source, the speaker will make sound and if the sound does not come out, it is certain that the ic is damaged.
